Many of the best public schools in the Greater Austin Area are located in this sites featured areas. A key indicator of the excellent education opportunities that these schools provide is the high Texas Education Agency (TEA) accountability ratings they consistently earn.
In the most recent TEA evaluation, about 41 percent of the schools attended by students residing in the featured neighborhoods of the Greater Austin Area were shown to be performing at an Exemplary level. Recognized ratings were earned by about 28 percent of these schools, and about 28 percent received Academically Acceptable ratings. (two new AISD elementary schools have not yet been rated)
By comparison, only 1 percent of other schools in the Austin area earned Exemplary ratings, 21 percent received Recognized ratings, 66 percent were rated Academically Acceptable and 8 percent received Academically Unacceptable ratings. The remaining 5 percent were not yet rated. As shown in the above chart, the Exemplary performance in the featured Austin areas was 40 percent better than that of Austin schools.
